The Gilded Iguana in Nosara, Costa Rica, is a boutique hotel known for its laid-back luxury. A one-minute walk from Playa Guiones, one of Costa Rica’s premier surf beaches, the hotel is a cornerstone of this tiny surf town.
The Gilded Iguana features stylish rooms, designed with a natural, rustic aesthetic that complements the tropical surroundings. The hotel’s on-site restaurant serves delicious local and international cuisine, focusing on fresh, organic ingredients.
Guests can enjoy surfing lessons, yoga classes, and mountain biking. The hotel has a wellness center with spa, gym, and saltwater pool. The hotel is also eco-friendly, with a focus on sustainability, and has some of the friendliest staff we’ve encountered!
One thing we really love is its prime location. The Gilded Iguana is in walking distance to all of our favorite restaurants, bars, yoga studios and beaches, making it the perfect place to stay while in Nosara.

Tucked into lush tropical landscapes and rice paddies, Visesa Ubud Resort in Ubud, Bali, is a luxurious eco-friendly retreat. The resort features traditional Balinese culture and architecture, providing guests with an authentic and immersive experience.
Visesa Ubud Resort has both villas and suites, each with private terraces or pools and stunning views of the surrounding nature, as well as traditional hotel rooms. The resort has several restaurants that serve organic and locally sourced cuisine, emphasizing wellness and sustainability. Yummy!
One unique feature – guests can partake in traditional Balinese healing sessions and cultural workshops. The resort has a beautiful spa, offering a range of treatments and therapies designed to rejuvenate the mind and body. Visesa Ubud Resort truly is a serene and one of our favorite places for a peaceful retreat in Bali.

4. Marriot Mena House in Cairo, Egypt:


The Marriott Mena House in Cairo, Egypt, is a historic and luxurious hotel located near the iconic Pyramids of Giza. Originally opened in 1869 as a royal hunting lodge, the hotel has hosted numerous dignitaries and celebrities over the years, offering a unique blend of rich history and modern elegance.
The Marriott Mena House features beautiful, traditional rooms and suites, many of which offer stunning views of the pyramids. The hotel’s lush gardens and expansive grounds provide a serene escape from the bustling and sometimes chaotic city. One of our favorite features was sitting outside, enjoying the breakfast buffet or dinner, with an incredible view of the pyramids.
The hotel has a large outdoor swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness center, and a spa. The Marriott Mena House is truly in a prime location next to the pyramids.
5. Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, Arizona USA:
Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a mid-century modern icon that blends retro charm with contemporary luxury. Originally opened in 1956, the hotel has been meticulously restored to preserve its classic mid-century design.
The stylish rooms at Hotel Valley Ho feature vibrant mid-century décor. The renowned ZuZu restaurant also has a great bar and live music, and the pool bar and cabanas are a fun place for poolside relaxation.

The hotel has a spa, fitness center, and two outdoor pools, providing plenty of opportunities for relaxation. With its prime location in downtown Scottsdale, Hotel Valley Ho‘s guests can easily walk or drive to local attractions, shopping, and nightlife.

We also took their shuttle into town for surfing and beach time in San Juan del Sur.

In Oslo, Norway, The Grand Hotel is a historic and iconic landmark, opening in 1874. The Grand Hotel offers a luxurious experience with elegant architecture and interiors, updated with modern amenities. The hotel boasts fine dining to include an amazing breakfast buffet, a fitness center, spa, and versatile event spaces suitable for conferences or weddings. It’s central location makes it a great place to stay when exploring Oslo!
9. Vidanta Grand Mayan, with multiple locations in Mexico:

The Vidanta Grand Mayan is a luxury resort located in several destinations in Mexico, including Riviera Maya, Nuevo Vallarta, and Los Cabos. Known for its beautifully landscaped properties, the resort is made up of suites, with full kitchens, dining spaces, private terraces, and plunge pools.

We especially loved the variety of dining options on property at Vidanta Grand Mayan, but we also love to explore the local cuisine in nearby Mexican towns.
10. Hotel Scheuble in Zurich Switzerland:


Hotel Scheuble in Zurich, Switzerland, is a charming boutique hotel that seamlessly blends modern design with historical elements. Located in the heart of Zurich’s Old Town, the hotel offers easy access to the city’s major attractions.
The accommodations at Hotel Scheuble are stylish and comfortable, featuring contemporary furnishings and amenities. Each room is uniquely decorated, providing a cozy and inviting atmosphere for guests.
We especially loved the central location of Hotel Scheuble, which was an ideal base for exploring Zurich on foot or connected through via the train station.
11. Meritage Resort in Napa Valley, California USA:


We loved our stay at Meritage Resort. Located in Southern Napa Valley, this resort is a 10-minute drive from downtown Napa. It has a great outdoor pool and spacious rooms. We also appreciated the added touch of an included bottle of wine in our room, which we sipped on our balcony after a long travel day. We loved strolling through their private vineyard and exploring the food trucks in the center of the resort commons. We highly recommend Meritage Resort for your next stay in Napa or Sonoma!
